Requirement Under the Law
The Geluk International Foundation is registered under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, No. S-52167 of 2005, on 24th March 2005, at Delhi. It is also registered under FCRA laws, 12A and 80G exemptions of taxes under income tax Act.
The Council of Patrons
His Holiness The Dalai Lama Shall be the Supreme Patron of Society.
The governing body of the Society may invites others, including former Gaden Tripas of the Geluk Buddhist Tradition, to be members of Council of Patrons as per terms and conditions and for a period of time determined by the Governing body.
The Governing Body
The Governing Body of the Geluk International Foundation shall consist of the President His Holiness The Gaden Tri Rinpoche.
Two Vice President His Eminence Shartse Choeje Rinpoche and His Eminence Jangtse Choeje Rinpoche. One Secretary shall be senior most among ex-officio representatives of the first six monasteries, who shall also be the Chairman of the Monastic Discipline Management Committee of the abbots from eleven founding member monasteries of Geluk International Foundation i.e. (1) Gaden Jangtse Monastery (2) Gaden Shartse Monastery (3) Drepung Loseling Monastery (4) Drepung Gomang Monastery (5) Sera Jey Monastery (6) Sera Mey Monastery (7) Tashi Lhunpo Monastery (8) Namgyal Monastery (9) Rato Monastery (10) Gyumed Tantric Monastery (11) Gyuto Tantric Monastery (12) Nominee of Gaden Phodrang. One Treasurer who shall be the Vice Chairman of Monastic Discipline Managing Committee.
The Governing Body of the Geluk International Foundation shall be the decision making body. The decision made by the Governing Body of the Geluk International Foundation shall be implemented by the Administration of the Geluk International Foundation.
The Administration
The administration of the Geluk International Foundation is headed by Executive Director, who shall also be the Secretary of Gaden Tri Thok Khang (The Office of the President of the Geluk International Foundation). It may include Programme Directors, Chief Accountant and various categories of staffs. The Administration shall function under the Governing Body which it shall report to and be accountable to.
Monastic Descipline Management Committee
The monastic Discipline Management Committee shall be constituted by the abbots of the eleven founding member monastries of the Geluk International Foundation i.e. ((1) Gaden Jangtse Monastery (2) Gaden Shartse Monastery (3) Drepung Loseling Monastery (4) Drepung Gomang Monastery (5) Sera Jey Monastery (6) Sera Mey Monastery (7) Tashi Lhunpo Monastery (8) Namgyal Monastery (9) Rato Monastery (10) Gyumed Tantric Monastery (11) Gyuto Tantric Monastery. The senior-most abbot out of the Ser No 1 to 6 monasteries shall be the chairman of the Monastic Discipline Management Committee and also the Secretary of the Geluk International Foundation.
